Inexpensive Suit Review (under $200) From JCPenny

Estimated read time 2 min read

Everyone needs to own at least one suit, and if you’re afraid to shell out $500 for something you may only wear a few times each year, I have a solution for you.

The J Ferrar Slim Fit Suit at JCPenny. I have seen them for as little as $130 and as high as $190 (depending on the sale). I bought mine for $150, and left another $50 for minor tailoring (jacket sleeve and trouser hem).

The J Ferrar suits are made in polyester, which keeps the cost down (are priced higher than wool), but because the cut is slim, they rather appear to be more expensive, especially after tailoring. Polyester suits typically don’t breathe as efficiently as wool, however, I found this suit to do extremely well, and I felt cool wearing it. Polyester suits will normally crease less and last more than wool, provided you go to the proper cleaners.

Place someone in a bad-fitting $2000 suit next to someone wearing well-fitting inexpensive attire. The inexpensive clothes will always look better. It all lies in the fitting.

If you’re looking for new apparel and don’t want to spend a lot of money, I recommend checking out JCPenny’s J Ferrar line. Maybe it’s your first suit, or maybe you just want to purchase another because JCPenny’s J Ferrar line jackets are so inexpensive. Either way, choose one, and get it tailored. You ‘ll be glad you did and you will look like a million bucks.
