Scarlett Johansson surprised fans with an unexpected appearance on a lates episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL), where her husband Colin Jost crack a joke about her. The Martin Short- hosted show has a much-loved “Weekend Update” episode, where Jost Co-host Michael Che is making jokes with each other writing Caught off guard.
SNL Christmas Tradition: Trading Embarrassing Jokes
The 2024 Christmas episode of SNL continued the comedic tradition of Jost and Che sharing jokes without previewing them beforehand. The live reactions add an extra layer of humor, and this year’s edition didn’t disappoint.
Che kicked things off by having Jost read jokes in a “Black voice,” followed by a controversial quip about Kamala Harris supporting reparations for slavery. The standout moment, however, was a personal joke about Jost’s wife, Scarlett Johansson.

Colin Jost’s Joke Shocks Scarlett Johansson
As Jost introduced the joke, cameras panned to Johansson backstage. “This one’s for my boo, Scarlett Johansson,” Jost began, prompting her to laugh nervously, clearly bracing for what was to come.
“Scarlett just turned 40,” Jost joked with a sly smile, “which means I’m about to get out of there.”
The camera caught Johansson laughing while looking visibly shocked. Jost quickly backpedaled, saying, “Nah, nah, I’m just kidding,” while trying to contain his own laughter.
Another Joke About Their Son Brings More Laughter
The jokes didn’t stop there. Che gave Jost one more dig, this time about the couple’s son, born in August 2021.
“We had a baby recently, and you haven’t seen pictures because he’s Black as hell!” Jost read, as a photoshopped image of himself, Johansson, and a fictional baby appeared onscreen.
Johansson’s reaction, sipping water backstage, was a mix of humor and disbelief, showing her grace and ability to laugh along with the jokes.
